"To the museums they're artifacts, but to us they're belongings."

After spending countless decades displaced from their home territories, these museum artifacts will finally have their stories told.

Let Them Speak brings us to the Unceded Traditional Territories of the Musqueam, Komo'ks and 'Namgis First Nations in so called "British Columbia" to sit down with 3 prominent artists working in traditional arts practices. These conversations seek to shed light and share the history and stories of the ancestral belongings that live in European museums, such as The Weltkulturen Museum of Frankfurt Germany.

This film became a necessary endeavour for the Museum when COVID-19 forced them to cancel an exhibit that they had planned. This event would have feature 3 indigenous artists who work in a traditional practice being brought to Germany to be part of an event at the museum hosted in their honour.
In the hopes of compensating for this event, the Museum chose to hire Rudegang Entertainment for the opportunity to create a 30 minute film that features these three artists and speaks to how their art practices relate to the ancestral artifacts that live in European museums.

Join us as we speak to Meghann O’Brien (Weaver), Tommy Hunt Jr. (Carver) and Christie Lee Charles (Rapper/Poet Laureate for Vancouver BC) and discover their thoughts and feelings about these objects (belongings) and the stories behind them.
